Arc Raiders: How to Easily Get Firefly Burners in the Shrouded Sky Update

In the evolving landscape of Arc Raiders, the Shrouded Sky update has introduced layers of complexity to the survival loop. One of the most sought-after components for high-level progression is the Firefly Burner. This essential item is the final piece required for the Weather Monitor System project, a crucial upgrade for players looking to master the surface environment. While it shares some similarities with the Comet Igniter, securing a Burner requires a different tactical approach and a bit of scouting.

At Digital Tech Explorer, we’ve spent time analyzing the latest arc patterns to ensure you aren’t caught off guard. Grabbing a Firefly Burner is significantly more straightforward than tackling complex missions like A Rising Tide or Worth Your Salt, provided you know where to look and how to manage the heat.

How to Locate and Retrieve a Firefly Burner

To obtain the Firefly Burner, you must engage and destroy the Firefly, a new addition to the Arc enemy roster. From a digital innovation standpoint, these enemies represent a shift in combat mechanics, moving from standard projectiles to elemental area-of-effect attacks. The good news for Raiders is that the drop rate is quite high—almost every Firefly neutralized will yield a Burner, much like the consistent drops of Hornet or Wasp Drivers.

The Firefly is a nimble, flying Arc unit that resembles the Hornet but operates with a much more aggressive, close-quarters behavior. While it looks like a standard flyer, it acts as a mobile flamethrower, attempting to close the gap and ignite the player. They are identifiable by their sharp, jet-fighter-like silhouette and a distinct metal plating on top that resembles a “hat.”

Feature Firefly Arc Hornet Arc
Combat Style Close-range Flamethrower Mid-range Projectiles
Visual Profile Pointy, Metal “Hat” Plate Rounded, Standard Frame
Primary Drop Firefly Burner Wasp/Hornet Driver
Threat Level High (Burn Damage) Moderate (Dodgeable)

Best Farming Locations

While Fireflies can be found across various maps, our field testing at Digital Tech Explorer suggests the following hotspots for maximum efficiency:

  • Dam Battlegrounds: Specifically the area surrounding the Hydroponic Dome Complex.
  • The Swamp: This region remains a premier location for all flying Arc variants.

Pro Tip: When hunting in these areas, be mindful of your surroundings. It is easy to accidentally aggro a Rocketeer while focused on the skies.

Combat Strategy: Neutralizing the Threat

From a tactical perspective, the Firefly requires precise aiming. You have two main options: target the rear rotor fans directly or blast through the armor plating on the front fans. For weaponry, the Ferro is a reliable workhorse, but the Anvil provides the raw power needed for a quick takedown.

In our deep-dive into the AI-driven behavior of these units, we’ve found that Seeker Grenades are the ultimate counter. As demonstrated during the Shared Watch event, these grenades excel at tracking the erratic movement of flying Arcs and can decimate a Firefly before it enters its fire-breathing range.

If you find yourself without high-tier ordnance, use the environment to your advantage. Unlike Hornets, whose shots can be dodged in the open, the Firefly’s flames are difficult to evade once you are caught in the stream. Duck into buildings and “plink” at the rotors from safety. Once the unit is downed, loot the chassis to claim your Firefly Burner and complete your Weather Monitor System.
