What truly sets the Freedom chair apart is its unparalleled ability to adjust and support my neck and head in virtually every position I adopt.
My only personal critique of the chair—beyond its formidable price tag—is its relatively small seat pan. This limits my ability to comfortably sit in unconventional positions, like having one leg folded under me, a habit that would likely dismay any ergonomist. While this is a personal preference, it’s worth noting for those who like to frequently change their seating posture.

❌ Don’t buy if… the thought of a $2,000+ chair is a non-starter: For most tech enthusiasts, a chair costing a fraction of the Freedom’s price will still provide a great experience, especially for gaming. The value proposition is highly dependent on individual priorities and budget.
The armrests exemplify this focus on intuitive design. Their synchronous adjustment mechanism means lifting one automatically adjusts both, simplifying setup. While some gaming chair brands emphasize numerous armrest adjustments for tight elbow support during controller use, the Freedom’s default positioning already feels excellent in a reclined posture.
However, the Freedom chair is nothing if not customizable. For an additional ~$200, you can upgrade to advanced armrests that include lateral movement. Then there’s the aesthetic. For this review, I requested a vibrant option, and the Hallingdal 65 colour 0840 certainly delivered, brightening the office with its bold blue fabric and polished chrome accents. Opting for such aesthetic customizations, however, can add another nearly $400 to the price—a beautiful but costly enhancement.
Ultimately, do these features convince me to save up for such an expensive office chair? Honestly, no. While I genuinely appreciate the Freedom chair and its Dynamic Headrest, my current ergonomic gaming chair—a Secretlab model costing about a quarter of the price—consistently provides excellent support without making me worry about spinal health. For the majority of users, I’d advise pocketing the difference.
