Hit Sim Schedule 1 Gets Pawn Shop in First Major Content Update

The smash-hit drug-peddling sim, Schedule 1, rolled out its first significant content update on Thursday. This release introduces several new features and a wealth of new decorative items, but the most compelling addition is undoubtedly the new pawn shop, allowing players to sell a wide array of items to the diligent store clerk, Mick.

To utilize Mick’s services, players simply need to visit the front of the warehouse, located next to the motel, and interact with him. This presents two choices: striking a deal or selling surplus equipment directly to Mick.

Pawn Shop Benefits and Beta Branch Access Guide

Selling old equipment can provide a welcome cash injection, perfect for reinvesting into your expanding enterprise. This also frees up valuable space, enabling a more efficient drug manufacturing process. Previously, the only method to clear space was to discard equipment, so this update offers a way to recover some value from surplus items.

If you’re having trouble finding Mick’s establishment, it’s likely because you’re not on the correct game version. Currently, this new storefront is exclusive to players using the beta branch, which provides early access to updates before their official launch.

Getting on this inside track is straightforward: locate Schedule 1 in your Steam library, right-click it, select “Properties,” navigate to the “Betas” tab, and then click the drop-down menu (defaulted to “None”) to select the beta option. The game will then update automatically, granting you access to the beta branch features.

Additional Content, Tweaks, and Gameplay Improvements

Beyond providing a new income stream, this latest patch introduces an array of new items, including a gold watch, six different paintings, a toilet, and much more. The update also brings several refinements and gameplay improvements, such as an increased jar stack size, more robust null and validity checks, and the inclusion of the supplier’s name on map app meeting icons.

Furthermore, time skips, like sleeping, now correctly affect supplier meeting countdowns, and the counteroffer product selection interface has been enhanced for better usability.

There’s a substantial amount of new content in this update, and it appears more is on the horizon. “My next focus will be on taking care of any remaining bugs,” stated the developer, TVGS (Tyler). The immediate priorities include:

  • Ensuring employees operate consistently and without issues.
  • Preventing save games from becoming corrupted or disappearing.
  • Minimizing disconnections and loading problems during multiplayer sessions.

Tyler also mentioned receiving external assistance for the save file issue: “I’ve met with some folks at Valve and got some great insight into how I can improve the save file format so that it plays a bit nicer with Steam Cloud saves, as well as being less prone to corruption.” It seems development is progressing smoothly as Schedule 1 continues its impressive run as a top-selling game on Steam, two weeks after its initial release.
