Once you’ve welcomed Lumiere and Cogsworth to your Disney Dreamlight Valley town, the next step is to embark on their friendship quests to unlock valuable rewards. As your go-to source for insightful gaming guides, Digital Tech Explorer, with author TechTalesLeo, is here to help. If you’re looking to boost Cogsworth’s friendship, remember to engage in daily conversations and present his favorite gifts to quickly advance, as his companion skill isn’t available until level 2. Upon reaching level 2, you’ll immediately gain access to his initial friendship quest, “Running Like Clockwork.” Fortunately, navigating this quest is a straightforward process, setting you on the path to deeper friendship with this diligent character.
How to Complete the Running Like Clockwork quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Upon unlocking the quest, speak with Cogsworth. He’ll immediately enlist your aid to address “troubling issues in the valley,” primarily his dissatisfaction with the aesthetics of certain villager homes—with Vanellope’s dwelling being a particular focus. Your task is to craft screens to obscure them. To begin, gather these materials:
- 25 x Hardwood
- 10 x Green Passion Lily
Note that Green Passion Lilies in the Frosted Heights respawn every 20 minutes, allowing you to collect six at a time. Plan accordingly, as you may need to wait for respawns to gather enough. Once you have all the necessary materials, proceed to a crafting table to build six Harmonious Screens. Then, strategically place all six around Vanellope’s house, ensuring they are close enough to register for the quest objective.
Return to Cogsworth. As you speak, Vanellope will promptly interrupt, expressing her understandable displeasure with Cogsworth’s plan to screen her home. After her vocal complaints, you’ll be instructed to remove the very screens you just meticulously placed. Take them down, then speak with Vanellope again, who will thank you and direct you back to Cogsworth. Unexpectedly, the quest continues as Cogsworth shifts his focus, now convinced that Dazzle Beach is unsafe and urgently requires a lifeguard.
Talk to Moana, and she’ll agree straight away to the duty. But, before she can start she needs you to find six pieces of a Tropical Lifeguard Chair buried in the sand and water. Equip your shovel and head down to the beach to dig any glowing spots in the sand and fish any orange ripples in the sea. You should find four in the water and two on land. Take the pieces to a crafting table to mend the chair and place it anywhere on Dazzle Beach before speaking to Moana again.
Cogsworth will join you and Moana, but Moana will express that her duties lie elsewhere than lifeguarding, leaving Cogsworth perplexed. She departs, and you’ll need to engage Cogsworth in conversation one last time. He’ll then recall that Stitch accidentally bumped into him, dislodging some of his internal gears. After a brief chat with Stitch, your next task is to recover these lost components. Head to the following locations and search for the shimmering gears on the ground:
- Dazzle Beach
- Forest of Valor
- Plaza
The gears will be noticeably zipping around these areas, requiring you to chase them down and collect them. Once gathered, return them to Cogsworth. After mending himself, he’ll assure you he’ll address future concerns as they arise, but for now, he intends to resume relaxing. This successful completion marks the end of the Running Like Clockwork quest, allowing you to further advance your friendship with Cogsworth.
